Sherwood Christian Community School (NSW)
Our Up-cycled Sensory Garden Dream
The Sensory Garden was built with recycled materials creating a place for students to enjoy a calm environment and learn about biological cycles. The students expressed themselves through all stages of the project and, together with the community, participated in working bees to complete the project on time. Children are now starting to understand the multiple benefits of the project: The music wall helps them to develop music skills; The worm farm has reduced waste and improved soil quality; The frog bog has increased habitat for different species; and the succulents planted in the miniature village have helped to reduce water use.
"I love the nature and seeing our school get bigger and brighter." – Lennox, Year 7 Student
