MPS Garden Classroom
The Garden Classroom contains an indigenous food garden, a sensory garden and a school kitchen produce garden, all created and maintained under the school’s 'Kathy Walker' learning approach. The outdoor area includes tables, seating and shade for a safe and comfortable learning experience. To create these areas the school community participated in working bees twice a week.
Recycled materials were used in the sensory garden and plants were planted in sensory barrels highlighting the five senses. Students planted and now harvest their own produce. They are also taking cooking lessons at the school and using all food scrap to create compost in the worm farms, called ‘hungry bins’ by the kids.
