Carlingford West Public School - How they are reducing waste.
Winners of a Yates & Life Education Australia’s Growing Good Garden Grant 2018!
Carlingford West Public School, NSW
The students at Carlingford West Public School have been working to create a sustainable garden by composting their crunch’n’sip waste. The aim is reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill and to become more environmentally aware.
This program has been supported by the 1,400 students and their dedicated teachers. The 56 classes are using the new composting buckets and have purchased three large rotating compost bins from Bunnings with the grant funds.
The compost in turn is helping to grow the beautiful sunflowers in the garden beds and fertilise the new trees. The students will watch them grow and measure their progress, plus they are celebrating with compost parties.
The greatest joy has been watching the tiny seeds we planted start to grow in to the most amazing sunflowers. Every student is thrilled to watch their progress.
