Top Gardening Tools for Kids
It's important to be armed with the best tools when gardening so you're ready for the adventures ahead. Here is our guide on what we think every kid should have:
A trowel is good for digging out weeds with long roots, putting potting mix into a pot and for digging small holes.
A fork is good for breaking up soil that’s in one big lump and for mixing up the compost pile to let lots of air in
Small watering cans are best for kids. Big ones are too heavy when they are full
Two small fat stakes and a piece of string are good for marking out where a row of seeds will be planted. Hammer a stake into the ground at the end of each row. Tie string around one end and pull it along to the other end of the row. Pull it up tight and tie it to the other stake.
A bent wire tool is good for weeding around little seedlings
Sun Hat & Sunscreen
Sun protection is essential while you're out in the garden.
A magnifying glass helps you see tiny insects, the insides of flowers and shoots just coming through the soil.
Gloves - Gloves help protect little hands while they're working in the garden.
